SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district apprehended a militant associate along with a grenade in the Karimabad area on Thursday.
According to a police handout, the suspect, identified as Arsalan Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Karimabad, was arrested during a Naka checking at Karimabad crossing. A grenade was recovered from his possession.
Police revealed that the arrested individual had intended to launch an attack on the Naka party by lobbing the grenade, posing a serious threat to security personnel and civilians. The swift action by Pulwama Police prevented any loss of life or injury.
“A case has been registered under FIR No. 182/2024, involving Sections 4/5 of the Explosives Act and Sections 18 and 23 of the UAPA in Pulwama Police Station. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details and links to other terror activities,” it reads.
