SRINAGAR: Gulmarg, a famous ski resort, has once again experienced fresh snowfall while the plains were lashed by rains as a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) affected Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

Occasional sunshine was witnessed in Srinagar, and other areas till Monday afternoon, following which Gulmarg started receiving fresh snowfall, bringing down the mercury at several places.

However, rains lashed Srinagar and other areas Monday evening.

The rains and snow occurred under the influence of the Western Disturbance that affected JK, officials in the Meteorological department said, adding that one more WD is expected to affect JK in the next few days.

Director of the Meteorological department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that the weather would remain partly to generally cloudy on March 12, while on March 13, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snow at many places, with thunder and lightning accompanied by gusty winds.

On March 14, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy with the possibility of light rain and snow at a few places.

However, he said that from March 15 to March 20, the weather would remain generally dry.

The weatherman has issued an advisory in view of the forecast, advising the public in hilly areas not to venture into avalanche-prone and sloppy areas, appealing them to follow avalanche warnings and advisories. (KNO)
