SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department forecasted a two-day wet spell starting from Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir.

Quoting a MeT official, Kashmir Scroll reported that Friday’s weather is expected to remain generally dry, with the chance of very light snow at isolated extreme higher reaches.

He further said, February 3 and February 4 will see generally cloudy conditions towards the afternoon, with the likelihood of light to moderate snow and rain in many areas by evening until February evening, with the possibility of heavy snowfall over isolated higher reaches.

Middle and higher reaches of north, northwestern, and south Kashmir may receive 8-12 inches of snow, lower reaches and plains may receive 3-6 inches, while plains of central Kashmir may receive rain with 1-2 inches of snow, he added.

“Jammu division may receive light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning with light to moderate snow over higher reaches of Pirpanjal Range and Chenab Valley during the above period,” he said.

On 5th February, he said the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy with the possibility of light snow over isolated higher reaches, adding that from 6th-13th February, the weather will remain generally dry.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, he recommended that travellers plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to the traffic police advisory. (KS)
