SRINAGAR: All major political parties of Jammu and Kashmir condemned the killing of a non-local labourer on Monday.

The labourer identified as Mukesh Kumar from Uttar Pradesh was shot at by militants in Nowpora Parigam village in the Newa area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Mukesh, a four of four, was working in a brick kiln and was on his way to a nearby bank.

Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha condoled the tragic loss of life due to militant attack. In a message, the Lt Governor said the killing of innocent civilian Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, will not go unpunished.

“I strongly condemn the despicable and cowardly militant attack in Pulwama. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Mukesh Kumar,” he said.

Condemning the attack, National Conference President Dr Farooq said, “I received the news with utmost grief and shock. There are no words strong enough to condemn this heinous attack. I express my sympathies with the bereaved family and pray for peace to the departed soul.”

JKNC vice president Omar Abdullah said, “Another unacceptable & indefensible targeted attack against a non-local labourer. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”

PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti said that the targetted killing of migrant workers is heart breaking. “Migrant workers leave their families to earn their livelihood. To see them being targeted is heartbreaking. Condemn the killing of a labourer in Pulwama today. Deepest condolence to his family.”

People’s Conference leader Sajad Lone, while condemning the attack, said the scourge of violence is back.

Sajad wrote on X: “The scourge of violence is back again. Senseless brutal attack on a police officer yesterday and the killing of a labourer in Pulwama today is indicative of the desperation of these brutal thugs.”

DPAP chief Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased labourer.

“Killing of non local labourer Mukesh Kumar in Kashmir’s Pulwama is highly condemnable. These poor migrant labourers are the backbone of J&K’s economy, who toil in every sphere of life in order to sustain their livelihood & targeting them is against humanity & principles of all religions. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Mukesh Kumar and urge authorities to ensure everyone in Kashmir feels safe,” Azad posted on X

Apni Party leader Altaf Bukahri in a post on X said, “Deeply aggrieved by the killing of an innocent non-local in Pulwama district. The killing is absolutely senseless and won’t serve any purpose to anyone. Hope the authorities nab the culprits very soon to make them pay for their act.”
