SRINAGAR:  In Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police have apprehended four individuals allegedly involved in an attempted murder case. The incident, which took place on 17th March 2024, saw assailants reportedly stabbing Deepak Kumar, also known as Deepu, son of Bodh Raj, and resident of Aghar Jitto, Katra, with a sharp-edged weapon. The victim was left seriously injured following the attack.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, “A case was swiftly registered at Police Station Katra under FIR No. 82/2024 U/S 307/341/34 IPC and 4/25 Arms Act. The injured person was promptly transported to CHC Katra for medical treatment.”

Sensing the gravity of the situation, SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma-IPS took immediate action and formed a special team to expedite the apprehension of the accused and with the assistance of technical experts, checkpoints were established in and around Katra town to locate the suspects. Through meticulous tracking and relentless efforts, the team successfully zeroed in on the accused’s location.

“The arrested individuals were identified as Sunil Sharma alias Sunilu, Himanshu Sharma alias Rajju, Rohit Kumar alias Rotu, and Mukesh Kumar alias Mukeshu, all residents of Village Aghar Jitto, tehsil Katra, district Reasi. Upon their arrest, sharp-edged weapons, including a Dharat, Toka, and a cricket bat, were recovered based on their disclosures. The entire operation was led by SHO Katra Inspector Nishant Gupta,” the statement reads.
