SRINAGAR: Jammu police have arrested the main accused, Arjun Sharma, from Trikuta Nagar. He is alleged to have been involved in the robbery of unsuspecting individuals by offering them lifts and then extorting their money under threat of violence.

The arrested individual, identified as Arjun Sharma alias Glotu, son of Vinod Sharma, a resident of Rajinder Bazar, Jammu. He was apprehended in Trikuta Nagar.

The police reported that Sharma, accompanied by his wife and another accomplice, was implicated in numerous instances of robbery and was wanted in approximately 18 First Information Reports (FIRs) filed across various police stations in the Jammu district.

Acting on these complaints, Station House Officer (SHO) Vikas Dogra of the Bus Stand police station arrested Arjun Sharma in Trikuta Nagar. “Sharma had 18 cases registered against him, and he was finally apprehended in Trikuta Nagar,” stated the SHO.

Police investigations revealed that Sharma would park his car on BC Road in Jammu and target potential victims travelling towards Udhampur and beyond. “Sharma’s modus operandi involved convincing individuals that he was headed towards Patnitop and offering them a lift. Subsequently, he would divert the vehicle towards Narwal under the pretense of picking up his wife, Priya. Thereafter, with the assistance of his wife and another individual named Pumma, Glotu would rob the victim at knifepoint,” the police elaborated. (KNO)
