SRINAGAR: Minimum temperatures across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh plummeted as the cold wave intensified in the region.
Kashmir Weather reported that in Kashmir, the lowest temperatures were recorded in Zojila at -23.0°C, Shopian -7.8°C, and Pulwama at -7.3°C, while Srinagar shivered at -4.5°C.

Other areas like Pahalgam and Larnoo reported -5.8°C and -6.9°C, respectively. In Jammu, the temperatures remained comparatively higher, with Jammu city recording 8.1°C and Katra 7.6°C. However, Padder in the region experienced a biting -6.2°C, while Banihal recorded -1.9°C. In Ladakh, Leh registered -10.0°C, while Kargil reported -10.9°C.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, forecasting cold wave conditions in isolated areas from 17 to 23 December. The department expects the cold wave to persist, with no major weather activity predicted until 26 December. Residents have been advised to take precautions as the chill intensifies.
