SRINAGAR: The whiteout in Sonamarg has attracted a large number of tourists, with authorities reporting that 53,000 visitors toured the area in January.
Following the recent snowfall, Sonamarg has become even more beautiful, with tourists enjoying sledging and snow skiing.
Basharat Hussain, Tourist Officer, stated that the fresh snowfall has significantly increased tourist numbers at the popular destination of Sonamarg.
In January alone, Sonamarg welcomed approximately 53,000 tourists from various locations, including 52,131 domestic visitors, 1,070 foreigners, and 858 locals.
The Department of Tourism has implemented adequate arrangements to promote tourism in Sonamarg during the winter months, including the promotion of adventure activities such as skiing and ice skating to attract more tourists.
Shweta from Mumbai expressed, “I was initially disappointed due to the lack of snowfall for a long time, but now we have the opportunity to enjoy the snow.” (KNO)
