Jammu Gujjar Leader Chowdhary Majeed Is No More

SRINAGAR: Former Secretary Auqaf Islamia Jammu and reputed   Jammu Gujjar, Chowdhary Abdul Majeed died at his Karnala Chak residence in Jammu. He was 90.

Choudhary Abdul Majeed (1930-2020)

Born on May 11, 1930, in Jammu, Majeed Chowdhary was the son of the tribal leader of Jammu Chowdhary Abdul Aziz who was a member of the Legislative Council of pre-partition Parja Saba constituted in 1934. Majeed was his elder son who later became remained Secretary of Auqaf Islamia Jammu.

Popular for his helping attitude Chowdhary not only worked for the welfare of the poor, orphans and destitute but also contributed towards promoting tribal and nomadic Gujjar community.

His Namaz Janaza was attended by a number of noted academicians, political leaders, other dignitaries include. His death was widely condoled. He is survived by three son Sajjad Majeed, painter Usman Majeed, Tariq Majeed and daughter Tahira Chouhan.
