SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir assembly speaker Abdul Rahim Rather adjourned the house on Thursday morning after the BJP lawmakers heckled Engineer Rasheed’s brother, who was carrying a banner. The banner said, ” We want the restoration of Article 370 & 35A and the release of all political prisoners.”

As Sheikh Khursheed started displaying the banner in the house within seconds after the House resumed for the fourth day, some BJP lawmakers felt agitated and wanted to take it away from him. He resisted, and it looked as if they were pouncing on him. This triggered the intervention of the Marshalls.
Before them, two Kashmir lawmakers, Sajad Gani Lone and Waheed Parra intervened and they also were pushed out. They eventually moved to the well in protest. Some members from JKNC also joined in and helped save the situation.
The speaker adjourned the house for 10 minutes. However, the lawmakers continued shouting against each other without leaving the house.
Kashmir House exhibited a high decibel din after all Jammu Kashmir parties – barring BJP, passed a resolution seeking restoration of the unilaterally undone constitutional guarantees. BJP, which is the main opposition in the 90-member house with 28 members, has not permitted the House to run smoothly and there have been four adjournments and no business since Wednesday morning.
Later the House resumed and the Speaker ordered the BJP protesting members be removed from the well of the House. Some BJP members were later removed from the House over frequently disrupting the proceedings.
