SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will address the first session of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Legislative Assembly on November 4 in Srinagar.
Excelsior reported that National Conference Government may offer the Deputy Speaker role to the main Opposition BJP, potentially leading to a unanimous Speaker election. The calendar released by the Pro-tem Speaker, does not include any Resolution on the restoration of Article 370 or Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the schedule, the Speaker’s election is set for 10:30 am on November 4, followed by the Lieutenant Governor’s address to the Assembly at 11:30 am. This will be Manoj Sinha’s first address to the Assembly since Jammu and Kashmir has been under Central rule.
On November 5, the Assembly will observe an Obituary Reference, paying tribute to former members of the Assembly, Council, Parliament, and others who passed away during the absence of an Assembly in J&K.
The Assembly will discuss the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s address from 6 to 8 November, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah replying on the last day, 8 November, which is also the session’s final day.
