Gul made these remarks during obituary references on the first day of the budget session.

He said that former legislators of Jammu and Kashmir, after completing their tenure, struggle to resume normal life due to prevailing uncertainties, unlike their counterparts in other parts of the country.

“A former legislator cannot engage in routine business. He cannot sit in a shop or any other place. Anyone can attack him. This is the reality of the situation. That is why I urge the government to establish a comprehensive mechanism for former legislators,” Gul said.

He added, “In many states and even in Parliament, former members receive free medical treatment and transportation services. We seek a similar arrangement for the former legislators of Jammu and Kashmir.” (KNO)
