SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday passed a Bill seeking amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Members’ Pension Act, 1984.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also the Minister Incharge of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, moved L.A. Bill No. 15 of 2026 in the House for consideration and passage.
The Bill seeks to amend the existing legislation and provide for matters connected with or incidental to the proposed changes.
The Assembly subsequently approved the Bill.
After its passage, Abdullah said he was pleased to leave the House “in smiling mode”, adding that he had also been under pressure at home because he was a pensioner there.
“I am happy to go home in smiling mode, as I was under pressure from home also, as I was a pensioner there,” he said.
