SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is scheduled to take up a number of issues of public importance, besides private members’ resolutions, during its sitting on Friday, according to the List of Business issued by the Assembly Secretariat.
The sitting is scheduled to begin at 10 am, with questions listed as the first item of business.
Among the matters listed for calling attention is the prolonged delay in completion of the Primary Health Centre building at Divar Lolab. MLA Qaysar Jamshaid Lone is scheduled to draw the attention of the Health and Medical Education Minister to the issue, citing public concern over the delay.
Another matter concerns damage caused by heavy rains, flash floods and landslides in Rajouri, particularly in Thanamandi constituency and parts of Poonch. MLA Muzaffar Iqbal Khan is scheduled to raise the issue with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction portfolio.
The Assembly will also take up the issue of drinking water scarcity in several villages of Trehgam constituency. MLA Mir Saifullah is scheduled to seek the attention of the Jal Shakti Minister towards hardships being faced by residents due to inadequate functioning of the Public Health Engineering Department.
Agricultural losses caused by hailstorms also figure prominently in the agenda. MLA Nizam-Ud-Din Bhat is scheduled to raise the damage caused to paddy, vegetables and orchards in Bonakot Block of Bandipora, while MLA Bashir Ahmad Veeri is scheduled to highlight extensive damage to standing paddy crops and orchards in parts of Srigufwara and Bijbehara tehsils following hailstorms on September 18-19.
The House is also scheduled to consider several private members’ resolutions, including proposals concerning parking facilities in congested areas, regularisation of daily-rated and similarly placed workers, changes to the Srinagar Master Plan in Phaak and Harwan, expediting the Lolab-Bandipora tunnel and road project, allotment of land to eligible landless and homeless families, employment generation for educated unemployed youth, and restoration of water resources in Jammu and Kashmir.
Several amendments to the proposed resolutions have also been listed. These include proposed changes concerning parking in congested areas of Jammu and Kashmir, inclusion of additional areas under the Phaak-Harwan proposal, land allotment to eligible families, employment-related measures and restoration of water resources as a response to climate change, flooding and water scarcity.
The sitting is scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Legislative Assembly in Srinagar.
