SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government will on Tuesday move a resolution in the Legislative Assembly seeking an amendment to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, to exempt teachers appointed before January 1, 2019, from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
According to the list of business issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the resolution will urge the Union Government to amend Section 23 of the Act to provide the exemption for all teachers appointed before the cut-off date.
It will also call on the Centre to undertake the necessary legal measures and issue the required notification through the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to give effect to the TET exemption.
Minister for School Education Sakina Masood Ittoo is scheduled to move the resolution in the House.
Separately, Minister for Rural Development Javaid Ahmad Dar will introduce a Bill proposing amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989.
The Bill seeks to repeal the Jammu and Kashmir Self Reliant Cooperative Act, 1999, and provide for the transitional arrangement of self-reliant cooperatives under the 1989 Act, besides dealing with matters connected or incidental to the transition.
