In an advisory titled “Beware of eKYC Scams!”, the bank said scammers were asking customers to download fake eKYC applications or click links purportedly meant for updating Know Your Customer (KYC) details.

The fraudulent applications may seek information including Aadhaar and PAN details, bank account information and selfies for so-called verification. Customers have been urged not to install such applications or use eKYC links received through unofficial channels.

The bank has cautioned customers to be particularly alert to messages or calls threatening that their bank accounts will be blocked unless KYC is updated immediately.

It has also advised customers never to disclose sensitive credentials such as one-time passwords (OTPs), personal identification numbers (PINs) or passwords in response to such requests.

The bank said customers should download applications only from official sources and avoid installing apps shared through links received in messages or on social media.

Customers have further been advised to verify any KYC-related communication through official J&K Bank channels before taking action.

The advisory urged customers to remain cautious of pressure tactics and report suspicious calls or messages.

“For assistance”, the bank has provided its helpline number 1800 890 2122, while urging customers to “stay alert” and “stay safe”.
