The match, scheduled from October 11 to 14, is J&K’s first fixture of the season after they secured their maiden Ranji Trophy title last season by defeating Karnataka in the final.
The hosts will seek to start their campaign with a victory as they attempt to defend their championship, while Madhya Pradesh will look to deny the reigning holders a winning start.
The J&K squad includes Shubham Khajuria, Qamran Iqbal, Yawer Hassan, Shubham Pundir, Abdul Samad, Paras Dogra (captain), Auqib Nabi, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Abid Mushtaq, Sahil Lotra, Vanshaj Sharma, Sunil Kumar, Kawalpreet Singh, Lone Nasir Muzaffar and Rohit Sharma.
The 2026–27 Ranji Trophy is the 92nd edition of India’s premier domestic first-class cricket competition. The tournament runs until March 2, 2027, with 38 teams competing across four Elite groups and a Plate division in a schedule comprising 138 matches.
Jammu and Kashmir enter the season as defending champions, with their opening home fixture against Madhya Pradesh marking the first step in their bid to retain the title.
