SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma assisted two accident victims on Airport Road near Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar on Friday.
The victims, a father and son, were seriously injured in a road accident when Sharma, enroute to the airport, halted his convoy to offer immediate help.
Sharma, sworn in as a cabinet minister two days ago, was recently allocated several key portfolios, including Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, and ARI Training.
Upon witnessing the accident, Sharma acted without delay, arranging for the injured father and son to be transported to a nearby hospital in his official vehicle. Speaking to local news agency KINS about the incident, Sharma said, “I was on my way to Srinagar airport when I saw the accident near Bakshi Stadium. I immediately stopped the car and took them to the nearby hospital. It is our responsibility to help people wherever they need us. We must step forward to assist others in times of distress.”
Sharma also emphasised the importance of collective responsibility and urged citizens to help one another during times of need. “I appeal to everyone to lend a helping hand whenever possible. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the government is always there for the people, and we hope that citizens feel the same sense of support from us,” he added.
