SRINAGAR: Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjeev Verma has directed election officials to undertake a house-to-house exercise to identify and enrol eligible voters who remain outside the electoral roll, including young and first-time electors.
Verma issued the directions while chairing a meeting with District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers to review the enrolment of left-out and newly eligible electors under the continuous updation process.
He called for particular attention to eligible persons who have attained the qualifying age for registration but have not yet been enrolled.
The Chief Electoral Officer directed Booth Level Officers to conduct house-to-house visits and remain accessible to eligible electors seeking assistance with enrolment and related forms. They were also asked to help applicants properly fill and submit the forms, particularly where electors face difficulties during the process.
The directions are intended to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll.
Verma reiterated his commitment to maintaining an accurate and inclusive electoral roll in Jammu and Kashmir.
