Jammu Kashmir Civil Society Urges Transparency in Reservation Policy Review Process

SRINAGAR: The Jammu Kashmir Civil Society (JKCS) has called for transparency in the ongoing review of the region’s reservation policy by formally submitting a representation to the Sub-Committee on Reservation Policy. The civil society group has sought the public disclosure of all submissions made during the consultation process.

In its representation, JKCS raised concerns over what it described as “widespread speculation and misinformation” surrounding the committee’s deliberations. To counter this and bolster public trust, the group urged the Sub-Committee to publish the names of all individuals and organisations that participated, the written submissions and recommendations made, and the main issues discussed during the consultations.

“Such disclosure,” JKCS said, “before the submission of the final report to the Cabinet, will foster transparency, informed public discourse, and greater democratic accountability.”

Reiterating its commitment to responsible advocacy, JKCS said it aims to contribute constructively to the process in the broader public interest.

Notably, the group has never publicly disclosed the names of its own members or executive office-bearers.
