Jammu Kashmir Govt Appoints Civil Judge on High Court Recommendation

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed Stanzin Itzes Chosket as Civil Judge (Junior Division) under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category on the recommendations of the High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to Government Order No. 8197-JK(LD) of 2026 dated July 6, issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the appointment has been made under Rule 42 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Recruitment Rules, 1967. She has been appointed in Pay Level J-1 (Rs 77,840–1,36,520).

The order states that the appointment is subject to the final outcome of SLP (C) No. 14423/2024, Ambir Khan v. Stanzin Itzes Chosket and Others, which is pending before the Supreme Court of India. It is also subject to the successful completion of pre-appointment training at the Jammu and Kashmir Judicial Academy.

The appointee has been directed to report to the office of the Registrar General, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, within 21 days from the date of issuance of the order. Failure to do so will result in the appointment being deemed cancelled without any further notice.

The government has further stipulated that the appointment will take effect only after the submission of the prescribed documents, including qualification, date of birth, domicile and category certificates, along with any other relevant certificates, before the Registrar General of the High Court.
