Jammu Kashmir: Govt Appoints Officer to Oversee Welfare of Residents, Students in Iran

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed an officer to coordinate with relevant authorities for the safety and welfare of residents and students from the Union Territory currently in Iran, amid the ongoing unrest.

A notification from the General Administration Department (GAD) designated Anil Sharma, JKAS, Additional Resident Commissioner of the JK Government in New Delhi, as the nodal officer for this purpose.

Sharma will liaise with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Embassy and Consular officials in Iran, and other concerned agencies to ensure information sharing, safety measures, travel facilitation, and other necessary interventions for JK residents and students in the country.
