SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has assigned the look-after charge of District AYUSH Officer and equivalent posts to 17 Medical Officers across the Union Territory with immediate effect, while transferring four other Medical Officers as part of the administrative reshuffle.
The Health and Medical Education Department issued the order on September 15, stating that the temporary arrangements have been made in the interest of administration and to ensure the smooth functioning of the AYUSH Department. The assignments will remain in force until further orders.
Among the 17 officers given additional charge, Dr Firdous Ahmad Malik has been assigned the charge of District AYUSH Officer, Bandipora, while Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Payer will look after the post of District AYUSH Officer, Baramulla.
Dr Bahar Ahmad Bhat has been assigned charge of District AYUSH Officer, Ganderbal, and Dr Mohd Farooq Nagashbandi will look after the post in Anantnag.
Dr Mohd Sultan Parray has been assigned charge of District AYUSH Officer, Srinagar. He will also continue to look after the Government Unani Hospital, Shalteng, Srinagar, in addition to his existing duties.
The department has assigned Dr Shabir Hussain Shah as District AYUSH Officer, Shopian; Dr Manzoor Hussain Qureshi as District AYUSH Officer, Kulgam; Dr Muzaffer Hussain as District AYUSH Officer, Budgam; and Dr Mohd Shafi Malik as District AYUSH Officer, Pulwama.
In the Jammu division, Dr Renu Dass has been given charge of District AYUSH Officer, Jammu; Dr Sarita Gupta will look after the post in Reasi; Dr Samta Gupta has been assigned charge in Doda; Dr Nanni Jasrotia in Samba; Dr Ravi Dutt Sharma in Kishtwar; and Dr Shaheen Ahmad Mir in Ramban.
Dr Nazir Ahmad Ahanger has been assigned the charge of Assistant Controller, Stores (Unani), while Dr Deepa Kachroo will look after the post of Assistant Controller, Stores (Ayurvedic).
The government said the assignments are purely temporary and will be subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before a court of law. The additional charge will not confer any right to preferential treatment in seniority, regularisation or promotion, which will be dealt with under the applicable rules.
The officers assigned the additional responsibilities will discharge the duties of the posts entrusted to them along with their existing duties, without prejudice to their substantive appointments, unless otherwise ordered.
As part of the same administrative exercise, four Medical Officers have been transferred and posted to new assignments.
Dr Abdul Rehman Rather, currently Medical Officer at Ayush Dispensary Chawalgam and In-Charge DNO Kulgam, has been posted as Medical Officer at AAM Hassanpura, Anantnag. He will also look after the work of the 50-bedded AYUSH Hospital, Kulgam, in addition to his regular duties.
Dr Vikram Singh Jamwal, Medical Officer at Ayush Dispensary Hullar and In-Charge DNO Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted as Medical Officer at AAM Samailpur, Samba.
Dr Kamal Kishore Dubey, Medical Officer at City Dispensary Reasi and In-Charge DNO Reasi, has been posted as Medical Officer at AAM K.A. Singh, R.S. Pura.
Dr Sanjay Chada, Medical Officer at Ayush Health and Wellness Centre, Kanthgali, Ramban, has been posted as Medical Officer at AAM Satriyan, Jammu.
The department ordered that all the officers covered by the order would be deemed relieved from their present assignments with immediate effect.
The order was issued by M. Raju, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department, under Government Order No. 694-JK(HME) of 2026.
