The discussions will cover the Revised Estimates (RE) for 2026-27 and Budget Estimates (BE) for 2027-28 as part of the annual budget formulation exercise.

According to the schedule issued by the Finance Department, departments have been asked to submit Action Taken Reports (ATRs) on budget announcements, wherever applicable, well ahead of their respective meeting dates.

The departments have also been directed to provide comprehensive information on establishment-related expenditure and compliance with requirements under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) framework.

As part of the exercise, each department must submit PowerPoint presentations in both hard and soft copies, detailing its sanctioned and actual staff strength, contractual workforce, and scheme-wise trends in revenue and capital expenditure.

The presentations must also include revenue receipts for the past five years, details of major projects, outstanding liabilities associated with ongoing projects and the key components of the proposed budget.

The consultations are aimed at examining departmental financial requirements and expenditure proposals before finalising the estimates for the next financial year.
