SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a committee to finalize specifications and implementation mechanisms for installation of water meters in commercial establishments and institutions.
According to Government Order No. 75–JK(JSD) of 2026 dated April 23, issued by the Jal Shakti Department, sanction has been accorded for the formation of the panel comprising senior departmental officers.
The committee will be headed by the Director Finance, Jal Shakti Department as Chairman. Other members include the Director Planning, Superintending Engineer UEED Srinagar, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Srinagar, Superintending Engineer Mechanical Urban Circle Jammu, and Executive Engineer QC and PD Srinagar.
As per the order, the committee has been tasked with evaluating, recommending and finalizing technical specifications of water meters for commercial use. It will also determine the method of procurement and finalize required quantities, besides working out the operation and maintenance (O and M) and implementation mechanism for the proposed system.
