Jammu Kashmir: Govt Constitutes Core Committee to Drive Health Reforms

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a six-member Core Implementation Committee for Health Reforms in the Health and Medical Education (H and ME) Department to oversee the coordination, implementation, monitoring and periodic review of key health reform initiatives across the Union Territory.

According to Government Order No. 538-JK(HME) of 2026, dated July 9, 2026, the committee will be chaired by Akriti Sagar, IAS, Mission Director, JK National Health Mission.

The other members of the committee are Dr Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), Kakryal, Katra; Dr S. Muhammad Salim Khan, President, JK Medical Council and Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Srinagar, who will serve as Member Secretary; Dr Abdul Rasheed Parra, Medical Superintendent, Children’s Hospital, Bemina; Dr Jitendra Mehta, Programme Manager, JK National Health Mission; and Dr Mushtaq Dar, Divisional Nodal Officer, JK National Health Mission.

The order states that the committee will facilitate the coordination, implementation, monitoring and periodic review of health reform initiatives undertaken by the Health and Medical Education Department.

It further authorises the committee to co-opt officers, technical experts, domain specialists or representatives from any department, institution or organisation under the Health and Medical Education Department whenever required for the effective discharge of its functions.

The committee has been directed to meet once every fortnight and submit its recommendations and reports to the Administrative Department for consideration and further necessary action.
