SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has authorised all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) and Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) to exercise the powers of Executive Magistrates within their respective jurisdictions.
An official notification issued by the Secretary to the Government, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Jammu Kashmir states that, in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (1) of Section 14 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the Government has appointed all Regional Transport Officers and Assistant Regional Transport Officers to exercise the powers of Executive Magistrates within their respective territorial jurisdictions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, as prescribed under the provisions of the BNSS, until further orders.
