Jammu Kashmir: Govt Forms Committee to Probe Illegal Promotion in PWD

   

SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a fact-finding committee to enquire into allegations of illegal promotion in the Public Works (R and B) Department, according to an official order.

As per Government Order No. 394-PW (R and B) of 2025, dated December 24, 2025, the committee has been tasked with examining allegations related to the promotion of Wagar Ahmed, working as an In-charge Assistant Engineer in the Public Works (R and B) Division, Thanamandi.

The committee will be chaired by the Additional Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R and B) Department. Its members include the Superintending Engineer, Public Works (R and B) Circle Rajouri; the Deputy Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R and B) Department (HRM Division); and the Under Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R and B) Department (HRM Division).

The order states that the committee shall examine all relevant records pertaining to the matter, including complaints received by the department and the rules governing promotions, and submit its report within 15 days.

It further clarifies that any modification in the postings of the committee members shall not debar them from discharging their duties assigned under the government order.
