The list was notified through Government Notification No. 138-FC (Revenue) of 2026, dated October 28, by the Office of the Financial Commissioner (Revenue). The department has made it clear that objections submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

The revised list takes into account the retirement of several Naib Tehsildars upon attaining the age of superannuation and the inclusion of candidates appointed on the recommendations of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board. It follows the final seniority list issued on March 3, 2022, which reflected the position as on January 1, 2020.

Officials have been advised to examine their seniority positions, dates of birth, category status and other service particulars carefully and submit any objections within the prescribed period.

The department has clarified that the dates of birth recorded in the tentative list will remain subject to verification against the relevant service books or matriculation certificates. Reserved category status and the dates of qualification in the Revenue Service Departmental Examination will also require authentication by the competent authority.

The notification further states that the seniority list will remain subject to the outcome of writ petitions, if any, pending before a competent court.
