SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the placement of 29 Senior Prosecuting Officers as Incharge Chief Prosecuting Officers in the Prosecution Department for six months or until regular appointments are made on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee or Public Service Commission, whichever is earlier.
According to Government Order No. 313-Home of 2026, dated May 30, issued by the Home Department, the officers have been assigned the charge in their own pay and grade as a temporary administrative arrangement.
The officers placed as Incharge Chief Prosecuting Officers are Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Yogesh Bamba, Rajesh Kumar Khajuria, Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, Puja Nijhon, Rohini Manhas, Anil Saini, Jaipal Singh, Mohammad Wajhat Jamil, Mansoor Ahmad, Arvind Rothore, Riyaz Ahmad, Vikram Singh Parihar, Shahid Mustafa, Nawang Nurbu, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Rajeev Thappa, Raj Kumar-I, Anoop Kumar, Joginder Lal, Ashwani Kumar, Riyaz Ahmad (ST), Sunil Kumar, Tsering Phuntsog, Sarfaraz Ahmad, Raj Kumar-II, Mohammad Syed, Mohd Ajmal and Mohammad Shafi Baba.
The government clarified that the placements have been made purely in the interest of administration on a stop-gap basis and will not confer any preferential right for regular promotion, which shall be carried out strictly in accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir Prosecution Service Recruitment Rules, 2020.
The order further stated that the placements will remain subject to the outcome of writ petitions pending before any competent court or tribunal.
