SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has placed two Assistant Section Officers of the JK Secretariat (Subordinate) Service as In-charge Section Officers on an officiating basis for a period of six months or until the posts are filled on a regular basis, whichever is earlier.
The decision was issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) through Government Order No. 1417-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated August 19, 2026.
The officials placed as In-charge Section Officers are Nahida Jan and Inder Singh.
According to the order, the two officials will hold the charge in their own Pay and Grade, along with charge allowance as admissible under the rules. Their placement will remain in force for six months or until the posts are filled through regular appointment on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee, whichever occurs earlier.
The Government has clarified that the arrangement is purely temporary and will not confer any preferential right on the officials to hold the posts on a substantive basis or claim promotion.
Any regular promotion will be made in accordance with the extant rules and will remain subject to the outcome of any writ petition(s), if pending before the competent courts of law.
The order further directs that Nahida Jan and Inder Singh will continue to work at their present places of posting until further orders.
