SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the renaming of several educational institutions after eminent personalities and martyrs in recognition of their contributions, legacy and sacrifices.
The decision was taken during the seventh meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Under the order, Government Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar in Jammu, has been renamed after Late Principal Kuldeep Kumar Badyal, while Government High School, Hapatnard in Anantnag district, has been renamed after Late Adil Hussain Shah.
Adil Hussain Shah was widely recognised for his actions during the Baisaran attack, where he assisted tourists to safety and lost his life in the incident.
According to the government, the initiative is intended to preserve and honour the memory of personalities and martyrs who made notable contributions and sacrifices for society.
