SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has restored the process of attesting land mutations with immediate effect, directing Deputy Commissioners to ensure that all pending cases are taken up on priority and disposed of within seven days.
The Revenue Department issued the direction on October 30, withdrawing its earlier order suspending mutation attestation from August 10, 2026, in anticipation of the launch of the Live Mutation Module.
In a communication addressed to all Deputy Commissioners, the department said the digital module continued to face operational issues and would take some more time to become fully functional.
It said the suspension had caused difficulties for the public, with the department receiving several complaints over the disruption of a routine revenue service.
“In order to alleviate the difficulties faced by the people, the attestation be carried out within 7 days, even while following the due process,” the communication stated.
The Deputy Commissioners have been directed to closely monitor the implementation of the instructions and ensure that pending mutations are attested within the stipulated timeframe.
The department has also asked them to report, on November 8, 2026, any Tehsildars who fail to comply with the directions.
The communication, issued by Special Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department, Puneet Sharma (JKAS), was addressed to all Deputy Commissioners.
