SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government is set to commemorate National Voters’ Day (NVD) tomorrow with a pledge-taking ceremony for all officers and officials working in the Civil Secretariat.
According to a communication from the General Administration Department, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir will administer the NVD pledge at 11:00 AM on 24th January in the Civil Secretariat, Jammu. Employees posted in the region will participate.
“The ceremony will be held in the Meeting Halls on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Floors of the Civil Secretariat in Jammu. Officials based in Srinagar will join the ceremony virtually from the Meeting Halls located on the 4th and 5th Floors of the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.”
All Administrative Secretaries have been instructed to ensure that their respective departments, along with all employees, participate in the pledge-taking event.
This initiative is part of the nationwide observance of National Voters’ Day, which will be celebrated across India on 25th January 2025, under the theme “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote For Sure.” The event will also emphasise the importance of voting and encourage citizens, particularly young people, to exercise their democratic rights.
The Election Commission of India has requested all states and Union Territories to promote NVD celebrations through various activities, including debates, discussions, and competitions among schoolchildren.
National Voters’ Day is celebrated annually to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India and to promote electoral participation among citizens.
