SRINAGAR: The High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh has permitted the Hindu Education Society Kashmir to withdraw its petition challenging the rejection of renewal of its registration under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, while granting it liberty to approach the court again if the matter remains unresolved.
The petition was withdrawn after counsel for the society informed the court that the matter was under active consideration of the authorities and the organisation was awaiting their decision.
The matter came up before Justice M A Chowdhary at the Jammu wing of the High Court on November 2, 2026, in WP(C) No. 1694/2026, along with CM No. 3770/2026.
Appearing for the petitioner, advocate Neeraj Verma submitted that the petition had essentially been filed against the rejection of the society’s application for renewal of its registration under the FCRA, 2010.
However, he informed the court that the issue was presently under active consideration of the respondents and the society was awaiting the outcome of the process.
In view of the developments, the petitioner’s counsel sought permission to withdraw the proceedings at that stage, while retaining the right to initiate fresh proceedings if the cause of action continued to survive.
Taking the submission on record, Justice Chowdhary disposed of the matter by dismissing the petition as withdrawn, with liberty as sought.
The court recorded: “The present petition is thus dismissed as withdrawn, with liberty as prayed for.”
The Union of India and other respondents were arrayed in the case, while no counsel for the respondents was mentioned in the order.
