“Jammu Kashmir is a Premier Destination for Filmmakers,” Says Omar Abdullah in Bengaluru

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday engaged with leading filmmakers and production houses in Bengaluru, positioning Jammu and Kashmir as a premier destination for cinema and film production.

During the interaction, a delegation of prominent film producers explored opportunities for collaboration and shooting in the Union Territory. The Chief Minister assured full policy support, streamlined permissions, and an enabling environment to make filmmaking in Jammu and Kashmir easier and more accessible.

The outreach is part of the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s broader strategy to strengthen ties with the film and tourism industries, particularly in South India, a major hub of cinema and creative production.

Highlighting the region’s scenic landscapes, cultural richness, and diverse locations, the Chief Minister said Jammu and Kashmir offers immense potential for filmmakers, from snow-clad mountains and serene valleys to vibrant cultural heritage.

He also underscored recent policy initiatives aimed at facilitating film production, including simplified approval processes, logistical assistance, and incentives for production houses.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said sustained engagement with the film fraternity would help address industry needs while boosting tourism and local employment opportunities.

Officials including Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, Director Tourism Jammu Vikas Gupta, and other senior officers were also present.
