SRINAGAR: The outstanding loans under Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) in Jammu and Kashmir rose to Rs 8,056 crore in 2025-26, registering an increase of nearly 28 per cent from Rs 6,291 crore in 2021-22, according to data placed before the Lok Sabha on Monday.
The figures, provided by the Ministry of Finance in response to an unstarred question, show that KCC loan outstanding in JK increased consistently over the five-year period, from Rs 6,291 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 6,363 crore in 2022-23, Rs 6,974 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 7,379 crore in 2024-25, before reaching Rs 8,056 crore in 2025-26.
The data was furnished by the Reserve Bank of India and NABARD.
At the national level, the Government said Kisan Credit Card issuance through the Jan Samarth Portal has been enabled in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, while Uttar Pradesh has seen issuance on a pilot basis. The portal-based facility has not been listed for Jammu and Kashmir.
The Government also disclosed that funds disbursed towards interest subvention and prompt repayment incentive under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS) stood at Rs 18,366.80 crore in 2025-26, compared with Rs 21,476.93 crore in 2021-22.
The annual disbursement under the scheme was Rs 17,997.88 crore in 2022-23, Rs 14,251.92 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 17,811.72 crore in 2024-25.
Importantly, the Centre has already announced an increase in the KCC loan limit under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. The announcement was made in the Union Budget 2025-26.
The latest figures indicate that the KCC credit exposure in JK has expanded substantially despite the Union Government’s Jan Samarth-based KCC facility currently being limited to the three States and a pilot in Uttar Pradesh.
