Jammu Kashmir: KVIB Disburses Rs 535.90 Lakh to Generate Jobs, Promote Rural Entrepreneurship

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (JK KVIB) organised an Awareness-cum-Interaction Programme at Government Women Polytechnic College, Bemina, on Monday to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among rural youth, artisans, beekeepers, and students.

The event was attended by Deputy CEO KVIB Kashmir, HOD of Food Technology, Cluster Head of JK Bank, senior KVIB officials, and representatives from allied departments. The programme aimed to educate unemployed educated youth, aspiring entrepreneurs, and stakeholders about government schemes such as the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP), providing guidance on project formulation, loan procedures, and financial assistance.

Deputy CEO KVIB Kashmir highlighted the board’s support, including financial aid, technical training, marketing assistance, and employment generation programmes for rural and urban entrepreneurs. The District Officer KVIB Srinagar reported that in 2024–25, 322 PMEGP cases were sanctioned with Rs 507.90 lakh in margin money, generating 1,932 jobs, while 12 JKREGP cases received Rs 28 lakh, creating 96 rural employment opportunities.

The programme saw active participation from locals and students seeking to modernise and expand their livelihoods. It concluded with the distribution of informational materials and registration guidelines, reaffirming JK KVIB’s commitment to strengthening village industries, promoting rural entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable economic development.
