SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has prorogued the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly with effect from October 1, 2026, formally bringing the current session of the House to an end.
The order was issued by Sinha under clause (a) of sub-section (2) of Section 18 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, and was circulated for general information through a bulletin issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Monday.
“I, Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under clause (a) of the Sub-section (2) of Section 18 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, do hereby prorogue the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly,” the order states.
The order is dated October 1 and was issued by the Assembly Secretariat on October 5 under number LA-6022-6060/Legn/2026.
The Assembly’s autumn session was held from September 21 to September 30. The prorogation ends the session but is distinct from dissolution of the House.
