SRINAGAR: Protesting MBBS and BDS interns in Jammu and Kashmir have decided to continue their agitation until the government issues a formal order confirming the proposed increase in their monthly stipend to Rs 25,000.
The interns’ stand comes amid reports of a possible hike following an announcement by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. However, the proposed revision has yet to be formally confirmed through a government order.
Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, president of the All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA), said the interns would not call off their protest on the basis of verbal assurances or public announcements.
He said the protesters were seeking an official written order clearly specifying the revised stipend, adding that the agitation would continue until the government formally notified its decision.
Reiterating its position, AIMSA stated, “No Written Order — No End to Protest.”
The association maintained that the interns would consider withdrawing their agitation only after the government issued an official notification confirming the stipend revision.
