SRINAGAR: Security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, grenades and medical equipment after uncovering a suspected militant hideout in the Satharban area of the Sajwan sector in Surankote, Poonch district, on Tuesday, officials said.
The operation was launched by the Army’s Romeo Force, through its Rashtriya Rifles battalion in the Surankote sector, in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police, following specific intelligence inputs, official sources said.
During a detailed search of the area, the forces discovered a natural cave containing an AK-47 rifle, 30 rounds of ammunition, six grenades and medical equipment, they said.
The grenades were subsequently destroyed at the site by a bomb disposal team, the sources added.
