The dual unloading operation involved New Modified Goods (NMG) rakes transported from Gurugram in Delhi to the two Jammu Division terminals. A total of 113 vehicles were unloaded at Bari Brahmana, while 118 vehicles were offloaded at Anantnag, marking a record in the Union Territory, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, said.

“This is the first time such a large number of vehicles have been unloaded at both goods terminals in a single day, representing a significant historic achievement,” Singhal added. The vehicles included popular Maruti Suzuki models such as Alto, Brezza, Eeco, Dzire, Wagon R, S-Presso, Ignis, Super Carry, and Ertiga.

Officials highlighted that the milestone reflects the growing preference for rail over road transport for automobiles, perishable goods, courier services, and cement, due to cost-efficiency, reliability, and advanced infrastructure. Singhal said the achievement underscores the rapid transformation of the region’s logistics landscape and the Indian Railways’ commitment to strengthening multimodal transport in Jammu and Kashmir.

“With enhanced rail connectivity and bulk movement capabilities, businesses benefit from streamlined delivery timelines, reduced carbon emissions, and safer transport options,” he said. The event is being hailed as a landmark for the Union Territory’s logistics and transportation sector.
