SRINAGAR: In Srinagar and Pulwama, Jammu Kashmir Police have intensified their crackdown on drug peddlers, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of contraband substances in separate operations.
In Srinagar, a police team from Police Station Chanapora, during a naka checking near Estate Quarter, intercepted a motorcycle (registration number JK01AB-3331) with two persons on board. The suspects attempted to flee but were tactfully apprehended. Upon search, a substantial quantity of drugs and narcotic substances was recovered from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shahrim Anasari, son of Tasleem Anasari, and Saqib Ansari, son of Sajad Anasari, both residents of Muzaffar Nagar, UP, currently residing in Mandir Bagh, Srinagar. A case under FIR No. 05/2025 has been registered at Police Station Chanapora under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, in Pulwama, the police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a psychotropic substance from his possession. A police team from Police Post Newa, while patrolling at Parigam, apprehended a suspicious individual. Upon search, a heroin-like substance weighing 11 grams was recovered. The accused, identified as Solihat Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmed Wani, a resident of Parigam, was arrested. A case under FIR No. 33/25 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under sections 8/20-29 of the NDPS Act, and investigations have commenced.
Police have urged the public to report any instances of drug peddling to the nearest police station or by dialling 112.
