SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police has arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics from their possession as part of its ongoing drive against drug abuse in the region.
According to officials, a police team from Police Station Nishat intercepted two individuals at a checkpoint set up at Pahloo Brain. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a significant quantity of contraband.
The accused have been identified as Nadeem Qadir Chopan, son of Ghulam Qadir Chopan, and Ahmad Badri, son of Mohammad Ismail Reshi, both residents of Pahloo Brein. They have been taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 08/2025 has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigations are underway.
Police have urged the public to report any instances of drug peddling or criminal activity by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialling 112. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against those involved in drug-related offences and have called for community cooperation in tackling the menace.
