SRINAGAR: Two persons, including a serving police constable, have been arrested in connection with a snatching incident that took place in the Channi Himmat area of Jammu, officials said on Sunday.
According to police, Constable Abdul Rehman and another accused, Nadeem Choudhary, both residents of Gujjar Colony in Channi Himmat, were apprehended for allegedly looting Rs 1,400 from a fruit vendor on May 22.
The case has been registered under FIR number 83/2025 at Police Station Channi Himmat under section 307 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events and the involvement of any additional individuals.
The arrest was made by a team from Police Station Channi Himmat, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Shariq Bhat. The operation was carried out under the supervision of SDPO South, Sheezan Ahmed, and SP South, Ajay Sharma.
Officials described the incident as a serious breach of public trust, especially given the involvement of a police official, and assured that action would be taken as per law.
