SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday dismissed a woman employee from service over her alleged involvement in a narcotics-related case.
Officials identified the dismissed employee as Police Follower Shameema Bano, who had been placed under suspension in June 2021 after her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu, in connection with a case registered under the NDPS Act involving the seizure of contraband.
Following her arrest, a departmental enquiry was initiated to examine the allegations. Police officials stated that after the completion of the enquiry and due adherence to procedures, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla ordered her removal from service on April 8, 2026, in exercise of powers under the relevant provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules.
District Police Baramulla reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism, integrity, and accountability, stating that any involvement of police personnel in unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. (KNC)
