The recoveries were made through efforts of the district police, with the phones being returned to their rightful owners after completion of legal formalities. Mobile phones belonging to pilgrims from outside Reasi are being couriered to their respective addresses, police said.

The recoveries add to 206 mobile phones recovered by police in July, reflecting continued efforts to trace missing devices and reunite them with their owners.

Meanwhile, the Cyber Police Station, Reasi, has traced and recovered Rs 36.12 lakh lost by victims in various cyber fraud cases.

Of the recovered amount, Rs 23.60 lakh has already been refunded to victims after obtaining the requisite court orders, while the remaining amount is being dealt with through due legal procedures.

The police said the recovery of missing phones and funds lost in cyber fraud cases formed part of its efforts to provide relief to victims and strengthen mechanisms for tackling cyber-related offences in the district.
