SRINAGAR: Security forces on Tuesday launched a cordon and search operation across several villages in the Thanamandi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district after CCTV footage purportedly showed the movement of two suspected militants, officials said.
According to officials, the suspected militants were captured on CCTV crossing a road late on Sunday night, prompting a coordinated search operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Army.
Acting on the CCTV footage, security personnel launched extensive searches in Bhanghai, Hasplote, Karyote, Kopra Top and adjoining forested villages to trace the two suspects.
Officials said the search operation was continuing at the time of filing this report, with security forces maintaining a tight cordon across the area. No arrests or contact with the suspected militants had been reported so far.
