SRINAGAR: The just concluded Jammu Kashmir Textile Sourcing Fair (JKTSF) 2024 witnessed a significant boost in business for the region’s textile industry. Over two days, the event recorded sample sales of Rs 54 lakh and confirmed business orders worth Rs 10.3 crore. Additionally, 904 business leads were generated, highlighting the fair’s success as a dynamic platform for fostering trade connections and strengthening the textile sector.

The fair, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) in collaboration with the Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC), attracted over 70 local sellers and 50 national and international buyers. Buyers from countries like Australia, Japan, Germany, France, Kuwait, and the UK engaged with artisans to explore a diverse range of handcrafted products, including intricate shawls, Pashmina suits, sarees, Basohli paintings, crewelwork, paper mache, and chain stitch creations.
The event, held at SKUAST-Kashmir, facilitated meaningful interactions between buyers and sellers, paving the way for economic upliftment and global recognition of Kashmir’s rich art and culture.
Commissioner Secretary of Industries and Commerce Vikramjit Singh emphasised the importance of such platforms in promoting trade, exports, and economic prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir. Senior officials, including Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and Executive Director of HEPC N. Sreedhar, also participated in the event.
The JKTSF, launched in August 2023, has quickly established itself as a premier event for showcasing Jammu and Kashmir’s exceptional craftsmanship. Its continued success underscores the region’s potential as a global market hub for premium textile products.
