SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has received two awards at the India International Travel Mart (IITM) in Mumbai, being recognised as the Best Adventure Tourism Destination and Best Experiential Tourism Destination.

The awards were presented to the Union Territory’s Tourism Department in recognition of its potential in adventure, nature-based and experiential tourism. Waseem Raja, Joint Director, Tourism Kashmir, received the honours on behalf of the department.
The recognition comes amid efforts to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s presence in the domestic tourism market and promote its diverse travel experiences and natural attractions.
The department participated in the two-day tourism event alongside several states, including Gujarat and Telangana, as well as private sector representatives from the travel industry.
The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism pavilion drew considerable interest from tour operators, travel agents and other tourism stakeholders from Maharashtra. Hundreds of visitors reportedly visited the pavilion during the event to explore tourism opportunities and travel experiences available in the Union Territory.
The department’s delegation comprised Waseem Raja and Vivek Puri, Chief Executive Officer of the Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority.
During the event, the delegation held meetings with tour operators and tourism industry representatives from Maharashtra to discuss ways to strengthen tourism promotion, develop travel partnerships and attract more visitors to Jammu and Kashmir.
